The Punjab police arrested a woman who is a student in Chandigarh on Sunday. She allegedly made objectionable videos of the hostel’s 60 inmates public. The university stated that there was only one leaked clip and it was a personal video that the accused sent to her boyfriend in Shimla.
On Saturday night, a massive protest erupted at the Chandigarh University campus in Mohali. The protesting student alleged that the girl used her cellphone to make videos of about 60 female students taking a bath. The row over leaked videos erupted, and the cops swung into action and also arrested the girl. The police refuted the suicide attempt claim made by the protesting students.
After the accused was detained, Punjab Higher Education Minister Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer ordered a thorough probe into the matter. According to police, no suicide attempts or deaths have been reported in connection with the incident.
