“Nothing is in my hands,” said Gehlot, as 82 MLAs quit, a new crisis for Congress

A fresh crisis erupted in Rajasthan Congress as 82 MLAs of CM Ashok Gehlot’s camp submitted their resignation to the assembly speaker CP Joshi on Sunday. The MLAs are opposing the appointment of a new Rajasthan CM from those who rebelled against the Gehlot government.

The hectic political development will come at a time as CM Ashok Gehlot prepare to contest the Congress presidential election and the speculations are rife. Because of this, his son, Sachin Pilot, could easily replace him. A very high political drama erupted about a leadership change in Rajasthan after 82 MLAs resigned from the state assembly on Sunday. The drama unfolded in Rajasthan as the Congress leader loyal to Ashok Gehlot resigned from the state Assembly. All this happened in the legislature party meeting scheduled for Sunday.

Sachin Pilot, a congress leader, and his supporters waited for the legislature for the CLP meeting, but it was just a washout. The congress observers, Mallikarjun Kharhe and Ajay Maken were also waiting at CM Gehlot’s residence, but the meeting did not take place. MLAs returned to their homes by midnight after putting in their resignations.

Sonia Gandhi, Congress interim President, observed Mallikarjun Kharge and Ajay Maken in conducting one-on-one talks with the Rajasthan MLA to resolve things. But both will go to Delhi today and also submit the report to the top leader.
